The Dubai Health Authority revealed that the number of donors for the “My Blood for My Country” campaign increased by 66%, and four government agencies topped the list of donors: Dubai Police, Dubai Airport Authority, Federal Tax Authority, and Land Department.

And the Director of the Department of Laboratories and Genetics at the authority, Dr. Hussein Al-Samt, told "Emirates Today" that the number of people who will donate since the launch of the campaign on June 13th, amounted to 6,379 donors, while the number of units withdrawn reached 5,682 blood units, after excluding some of those who wanted to donate. for health considerations.

He pointed out that there was a clear increase in the number of donors, amounting to 66% for the first time since the beginning of the campaign, where the largest increase in the past was 52%, noting that the number of blood units drawn from donors in government agencies amounted to 546 units, while the rest of the samples were collected before Donors participating in the campaign.

Al-Samt mentioned that the most age groups participating in the campaign ranged between 25 and 45 years, with 81% of the total participants.

He stressed that "My Blood for My Country" continues to implement external campaigns targeting governmental and private institutions, in addition to distributing mobile donation buses in different regions, with the aim of collecting the largest possible number of blood units and providing a sufficient stock of blood of various types to save lives.

Al-Samt stated that males topped the list of donors in the campaign with 5,068 donors compared to 624 females, calling on community members to donate, through the various outlets provided by the Dubai Health Authority or through mobile buses that save those wishing the hardship of reaching the center.

It is noteworthy that the "My Blood for My Country" campaign is implemented in a strategic partnership and fruitful cooperation between "Emirates Today", the "Al-Amin" service, and the Dubai Health Authority, and the campaign was launched in its first session in 2012, under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince Dubai Executive Council Chairman.

His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed was the first to donate blood at the moment of the campaign’s launch, which contributed to its success and encouraged community members to participate in it, especially after His Highness emphasized the importance of the initiative, saying that “blood donation is the best gift that a citizen and resident can give, as an expression of patriotism.” Especially since there are sick and injured people who need every drop of blood.”

Growing community awareness
