August 12, 2021 The Galician justice declared invalid the requirement of possession of the covid green pass to be able to access bars, restaurants and nightclubs in certain areas of the Spanish region, the latest in the Iberian country where the measure was still considered in force. This was announced by the Galician regional court, the judicial seat responsible for the decision. With this ruling, the obligation of the green pass remains excluded in all regions of Spain, after the previous negative decisions of the courts of other territories such as Andalusia and Cantabria, where regional governments had tried to apply the obligation.

In a statement, the regional court explains that it adopted this resolution following procedural irregularities by the government of Galicia, which, according to the judges, did not correctly submit the order of 22 July in which introduced the mandatory green pass in areas with a high risk of contagion.

The court's ok was a prerequisite as it is a measure limiting individual rights. Due to these irregularities found, the mandatory green pass requirement in certain circumstances is therefore considered "ineffective".
