Thomas Markle, the father-in-law of Prince Harry and the Duchess of Sussex, Meghan Markle, claimed that he gave her a bouquet of flowers on her 44th birthday as a goodwill gesture to restore his relationship with her again, after the disputes that broke out between them, but she did not interact with him.

Thomas, 77, told the media he had sent his daughter a special arrangement of bouquets of dozens of red roses with two yellow roses in the middle, representing her two children with her husband Prince Harry.

Thomas explained that he specifically wants to connect with his grandchildren, Archie (2 years) and Lilipet (2 months), and that he wants to be a part of their lives because he believes they have no family ties in the Montecito California area.

Thomas sent his daughter a card with flowers, which said, "Happy birthday and brighter days."

While Thomas says Meghan apparently did not contact him after receiving the gift, he said she accepted it from him, because she "loves flowers".

Thomas and Meghan have been separated since May 2018, when he was caught stealthily taking pictures of celebrities with some paparazzi in the weeks leading up to his daughter's wedding to Prince Harry.

He later leaked a personal message from her.

Since then, he has made several public attempts to communicate with his daughter and son-in-law, but to no avail.

In July, Thomas revealed that he would take legal action against the Duke and Duchess of Sussex, because he had not yet met his two grandchildren amid the family row.

"I will be petitioning the California courts to see my grandchildren in the very near future," he told Fox News from his home in Rosarito, Mexico.
