12 August 20,211.78 billion from the PNRR for the areas affected, in Central Italy, by the earthquakes of 2009 and 2016/2017.

And so while the first Italian projects envisaged by the Recovery Fund are launched, and the first 25 billion euros from the EU Commission arrive in the next few days, the Earthquake Package financed by the Fund complementary to the PNRR is also ready, with funds aimed at recovery and the economic development of the central Apennines.

The data are reported in a note from the commissioner for post-earthquake reconstruction headed by Giovanni Legnini. The fund will be managed by the Integrated Coordination Cabinet which took office today. A multilevel governance that brings together all the institutional representatives of the two craters (that of the 2009 earthquake and that of 2016/2017) and which will be called upon to plan the use of resources and select projects.

The unitary intervention programs for the use of the funds allocated for "Safe, sustainable and connected cities and towns" and "Economic and social revitalization" will have to be defined by 30 September.

The Coordination Cabinet, which has just been set up, has already designated a working group for the preparation of unitary programs whose objectives are the energy transition and environmental sustainability, focusing on the formation of human capital and the enhancement of local resources.

The arrival of the PNRR funds is added to the allocations already in progress and which concern: sustainable lighting, water recovery systems, environmentally friendly roads, green systems, the energy efficiency of public buildings and in particular of schools, integrated plans mobility and sustainable transport, “smart cities”, telemedicine, tele-assistance and support to the economy of the local productive sectors also through the enhancement of local vocations.

Among the other measures to support the economy, currently, there are the tax breaks of the Zona Franca Urbana and the tax credit on investments in capital goods of companies, both extended to the end of 2021.
