During the outbreak and handling of the epidemic, it was also exposed that there were weak links in the normalized epidemic prevention and control work in Guangzhou, and some party members and leading cadres had problems of ineffective performance and negligence of duties.
With the approval of the Provincial Party Committee, the Guangdong Provincial Commission for Discipline Inspection and the Guangzhou Municipal Commission for Discipline Inspection and the Joint Investigation Team for Epidemic Prevention and Control Accountability conducted an in-depth investigation.

Chen Zhiying, member of the Standing Committee of the Guangzhou Municipal Party Committee and Executive Deputy Mayor, gave admonishment and treatment.
Liming, a member of the Party Leadership Group and Deputy Mayor of the Guangzhou Municipal People's Government, gave warnings to the party and sanctions for political demerits.
Huang Guanglie, secretary and director of the Party Leadership Group of the Guangzhou Municipal Health Committee, was given a serious warning within the party, a punishment for serious political demerits, and was removed from office.
Hu Wenkui, a member and deputy director of the Party Group of the Guangzhou Municipal Health Committee, gave serious warnings to the party and punishments for serious political demerits.
Xia Haihui, party branch secretary and director of the Medical Administration and Medical Management Office of the Guangzhou Municipal Health Commission, was given sanctions of removal from the party and government affairs, and was demoted to a fourth-level investigator.
Li Shuangming, secretary and director of the Party branch of the Guangzhou Emergency Medical Command Center, was punished for political demerit.
Yang Zhicong, director of the Guangzhou Center for Disease Control and Prevention, gave serious warnings to the party and punishments for serious political demerits.
Hong Qian, Secretary of the Party Leadership Group and Director of the Guangzhou Municipal Bureau of Commerce, gave warnings to the party and sanctions for political demerit.
Chen Xiaohua, secretary of the Liwan District Party Committee of Guangzhou City, gave serious warnings to the party, sanctions for serious demerits in government affairs, and dismissal.
Bi Ruiming, deputy secretary and district head of the Liwan District Committee of Guangzhou City, gave serious warnings to the party, sanctions for serious political demerits, and was removed from office.

Gu Xiang, Secretary of the Party Leadership Group, Director, and Level 1 Investigator of the Liwan District Health Bureau of Guangzhou City, was given sanctions of removal from the party and government affairs, and was demoted to Level 4 Investigator.
Wang Zengguang, secretary of the Party Working Committee of Baihedong Street, Liwan District, was given sanctions of dismissal from the party and government affairs, and was demoted to a fourth-level investigator.
Chen Zhifeng, deputy secretary and office director of the Party Working Committee of Baihedong Street, Liwan District, was given sanctions of removal from the party and government affairs, and was demoted to a fourth-level investigator.
