On August 11, local time, the "Commemorating the 29th Anniversary of the Establishment of Diplomatic Relations between China and South Korea-Forum on the Future of China-South Korea Relations" was held in Seoul.
Xing Haiming, Chinese Ambassador to South Korea, attended and delivered a speech.
Xing Haiming said in his speech that since the establishment of diplomatic relations 29 years ago, the political relationship between China and South Korea has grown from scratch, and the foundation of mutual trust has been continuously consolidated; the level of pragmatic cooperation has grown from low to high, and the common values of the two countries have been expanding; and cultural exchanges have grown from sparse to dense, friendly public opinion. The foundation is increasingly consolidated.
In particular, since the epidemic, the governments and people of China and South Korea have worked together and helped each other. The cooperation in the fight against the epidemic has gone from shallow to deep, setting an international model.
Looking forward to the future, China and South Korea should further enhance political mutual trust, strengthen strategic coordination and collaboration; continuously stimulate the potential for practical cooperation to achieve integrated development; continue to deepen cultural exchanges and cooperation, and promote people-to-people bonds; gather consensus to form a joint force and commit to regional and world peace; And promote the common values of all mankind, jointly safeguard the international system with the United Nations as the core and the international order based on international law, and practice true multilateralism.
On the same day, former South Korean Prime Minister Lee Lo-yeon, Ding Shi-hyun, chief vice-chairperson of the Democratic and Peaceful Unification Advisory Conference, and others, as well as experts and scholars from well-known universities and authoritative think tanks from the two countries attended both online and offline modes.
The participating experts and scholars congratulated the 29th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and South Korea, reviewed the achievements since the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and South Korea, analyzed the current development of China-South Korea relations, and offered suggestions for the development of China-South Korea relations from the perspectives of politics, economy, humanities, regional and international affairs cooperation.
