The stilt runner is recognizable by his disproportionately long legs and his thin beak.

That it is seen in Sweden is unusual, it normally takes place around the Mediterranean and in Africa, among other places.

- It was very special to see this.

That it is also a whole family makes it unique, says birdwatcher David Erterius.

It was a bird-watching acquaintance who first discovered the stilt runner family, then the discovery spread among the country's bird enthusiasts.

- There have probably been a couple of hundred birdwatchers here and watched the last few days, says David Erterius.

Family with kids

The bird family consists of two adult individuals and three newly hatched young.

- They look very spectacular with their long legs, it is a special bird.

In birdwatching circles, it is believed that it is the same pair of birds that were already noted outside Sjöbo and in Vomb this spring.

- Why they have moved north is a mystery, maybe it can be climate change, but it is just a speculation, says David Erterius.
