Heavy rains have been falling in Niger for several days.

In Niamey, the water that fell during the night from Tuesday to Wednesday August 11 caused significant material damage and killed five people.

Several districts of the capital are affected.

The regional authorities are calling on residents of flood-prone neighborhoods to leave the area because heavy downpours are expected to occur in the coming days.
