“The iota strain of coronavirus infection currently does not pose a serious threat.

This variant of infection was detected mainly in the United States, in particular in New York and a number of other states, as well as in Europe, ”Lioznova quoted TASS as saying.

He added that "it has not been found on the territory of the Russian Federation."

According to data as of August 11, 21,571 cases of coronavirus infection were recorded in Russia per day, the total number of patients with COVID-19 was 6,512,859.
