The Ministry of Health warns against the use of anti-inflammatory by pregnant women

The Ministry of Health and Community Protection has issued a circular to all health facilities and health care practitioners regarding updating warnings related to the use of non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) after 20 weeks of pregnancy.

She indicated that the use of non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs may cause rare infections that are dangerous to the fetus's kidneys in pregnant women, at or after the 20th week of pregnancy, and may cause low levels of amniotic fluid or other complications.

The Ministry recommended that non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs should not be used, starting from 20 to 28 weeks of pregnancy, except with the advice of a health care professional. A healthcare professional when using NSAIDs in pregnancy.

The Ministry issued another circular to all health facilities and health care practitioners, to lift the suspension of the registration and marketing of the Amopress (Amlodipine) 5mg product for the treatment of high blood pressure.
