As Shoigu recalled, the Russian army held two joint exercises near the borders with the Islamic republic: one with Uzbekistan, the second with the participation of Tajikistan and Uzbekistan.

"The exercises were held at the highest level, and we will continue to conduct such exercises," said Shoigu, quoted by the press service of Rosmolodezh.

The regular practice of such exercises will help ensure the security of state borders and be prepared for defense in case of a possible attack, the minister stressed.

On the eve, on the border with Afghanistan, an active phase of exercises was held with the participation of 2.5 thousand troops from Russia, Tajikistan and Uzbekistan.

As stated in the Central Military District, during the exercises, for the first time, the use of an interspecific grouping of troops with the massive use of aviation, reconnaissance and fire complexes and landing forces was demonstrated based on the experience gained in Syria.

The Ministry of Defense of Tajikistan said that such anti-terrorist exercises were held for the first time in the history of military cooperation of the three states.
