China News Agency, Moscow, August 10 (Reporter Wang Xiujun) The Deputy Director of the Information Department of the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs Rahonin stated on the website of the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs on the 9th that Russia will act on some British citizens participating in anti-Russian activities in accordance with the principle of reciprocity. Sanctions and bar their entry.

Rahonen said that the move was in response to the British government's response to various ridiculous pretexts in December 2020 and April 2021 to impose personal sanctions on Russian citizens.

The unreasonable accusation by the British side against Russia clearly exposed the true intentions of the British leaders to disrupt bilateral relations.

Rahonen said that Britain's easy identification of "criminals" and "punishment measures" is actually an attempt to interfere in the internal affairs of other countries and put pressure on the Russian judicial system.

The Russian side called on the British leaders to abandon the unfounded line of confrontation.

This is not the first time that Russia has banned entry of British citizens participating in anti-Russian activities.

In November last year, Russia announced the prohibition of 25 British citizens from entering, in response to the British ban on entry of 25 Russian citizens involved in Magnitsky’s death in July last year.

Magnitsky is a lawyer for a Russian fund management company.

He once exposed an official corruption case involving as much as 230 million U.S. dollars.

However, the lawyer was arrested for tax evasion and died in a detention center in Moscow in 2009.

The death of the lawyer caused an uproar in Russian society and also aroused the attention of Western countries.

Since then, the United States, the United Kingdom and many other countries have introduced the "Magnitsky Act" to sanction people who violate human rights and corruption.
