During the pandemic, many restaurant owners were forced to lay off staff, which led many to leave the industry.

When the industry now needs staff again, there is a shortage.

- We are missing around 20-25 percent, says Johan Rennemark, CEO of Krogfamiljen, which runs three restaurants in Kalrskrona.

And it is not only for certain services that it is difficult to find staff.

- We see across the entire range that there are fewer people applying for the positions and it is more difficult to find the right staff, he says.

Takes time to solve the problem

He believes that the reason why it is difficult to find staff is because many see the restaurant industry as uncertain after what happened during the pandemic.

He also believes that the staff shortage will not be resolved overnight.

- We expect that it will take at least one to two years before we have stability again when it comes to staff, says Johan Rennemark.
