August 10, 2021 Over six thousand Covid infections were recorded yesterday in Israel, in what represents a negative record since February. 6,275 new cases have been recorded in the past 24 hours. The new data comes two days after the Israeli government tightened restrictions in an effort to contain the spread of the delta variant of the coronavirus. The positivity rate has risen to 4.84 per cent and there are about 400 serious cases. The total number of deaths is now 6,599, of which 82 since the beginning of August.

This was announced by the ministry of health. Cited by the media, the coordinator of the fight against the pandemic Salman Zarka called these data "alarming". "We have reached a critical point for all of us: for our health, for our life and for the economy" he added.

Zarka has renewed the appeal to be vaccinated to those who have not yet been immunized. As it turns out, over a million Israelis who could get vaccinated have so far ignored the government's increasingly pressing appeals. Meanwhile, the administration of the third dose of Pfizer vaccine to the 'Over 60' who received the first two doses over five months ago continues with enthusiasm. Their total number has now risen to 580,000.

Premier Bennett has asked the health insurance funds to strive to reach the figure of 900,000 vaccinations by the end of this week.
