"We are completing joint exercises of the Armed Forces of Tajikistan, Uzbekistan and Russia," Lapin quoted TASS as saying.

He stressed that during the exercises, for the first time, it was demonstrated "the use of an interspecific grouping of forces with the massive use of aviation, reconnaissance and fire complexes and landings based on the experience gained in the SAR."

The head of the Ministry of Defense of Tajikistan, Colonel-General Sherali Mirzo noted that such anti-terrorist exercises were held for the first time in the history of military cooperation of the three states.

In turn, the Chief of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Uzbekistan, Major General Shukhrat Kholmukhamedov expressed concern over the situation in Afghanistan, noting that the current situation requires maintaining combat readiness.

Earlier it was reported that the active phase of Russia's military exercises began on the Afghan border.
