The only bridge leading to the outside world in the village has collapsed, and about 700 people in the village have been trapped.

The Japanese Self-Defense Forces dispatched rescue team members and delivered relief supplies to the area that evening.

  The Japan Meteorological Agency called for strict prevention of landslides and floods caused by heavy rain, as well as storms and huge sea waves.
