The "2020 Simple Life Table" published on the 6th by the internal affairs department of the Taiwan authorities shows that the average life expectancy of Taiwanese people is 81.3 years, of which 78.1 years old for men and 84.7 years old for women, both hit historical highs.

  According to Taiwan media reports such as the Central News Agency, China Times News, and United News, the statistics show that among the six major counties and cities in Taiwan, the average life expectancy of residents in Taipei City is 84.1 years old, and the rest are New Taipei City, Taoyuan City, and Taichung in order. City, Tainan City and Kaohsiung City; the average life expectancy of men and women also shows the highest life expectancy in Taipei City, decreasing from north to south.

Among the remaining counties and cities, Hsinchu City has the highest average life expectancy of 81.7 years, and Taitung County has the lowest life expectancy of 76.5 years.

  According to the department, the global average life expectancy of men is 70.2 years and that of women is 75.0 years. The average life expectancy of men and women in Taiwan is 7.9 and 9.7 years higher than the global average.

With the improvement of medical standards, the importance of food safety, the improvement of the quality of life, and the prevalence of exercise, the average life expectancy of the people on the island has shown an upward trend in recent years, from 79.2 years in 2010 to 81.3 years in 2020.
