At the turn of the year, the police in southern Lapland became the first in the country to stop patrolling at night.

Instead, emergency preparedness was introduced in the home.

Now that six months have passed, the police state that more resources have been released during the day.

- We cover an area as large as Denmark.

The probability that a patrol out on the roads will fall on something is not so great.

Then we do better if we rest and are prepared to pull out when something happens, says Marcus Nilsson, local police area manager in southern Lapland.

The union is also positive

According to Sorsele residents who SVT spoke to, there have been more police officers visible during the day recently.

The Swedish Police Confederation also thinks that the solution has many advantages.

- When we talked to members, everyone was satisfied, says Joakim Moritz, vice chairman of the Västerbotten Police Association.

The Minister of the Interior believes that the solution will become standard

Minister of the Interior Mikael Damberg (S) has had a meeting with representatives from the police area in southern Lapland.

He believes that this is a solution that will be introduced in more parts of the country.

- I think this will become standard in sparsely populated areas, says Mikael Damberg.
