“The work of the aviation EMERCOM of Russia, the Ministry of Defense and the National Guard does not stop for a single day.

In total, more than 110 discharges have been made since the beginning of extinguishing, while over 1,100 tons of fire extinguishing agents have been discharged to active combustion centers, ”the statement says.

It is noted that "the general aviation group involved in the elimination of the fire on the territory of the reserve is: six Mi-8 helicopters, two Be-200 aircraft, six Il-76 aircraft."

"A huge role in the coordination of aviation activities is played by the so-called" gunners "- these are specially trained people who, being on the ground, not far from the epicenter of the fire, direct aircraft by coordinates to those places where they are most needed," the Ministry of Emergency Situations added.

Earlier it was reported that the head of Sarov, Alexei Safonov, signed a decree on the introduction of an emergency regime in the city due to a forest fire that occurred in a nature reserve in Mordovia and spread to the territory of the Nizhny Novgorod region.
