According to the latest data published on Sunday by Public Health France, the number of patients hospitalized because of Covid-19 stands at nearly 8,700, a figure that continues to grow.

In addition, the number of Covid patients in serious condition has increased by more than 80% since July 21.

The number of hospitalized Covid patients continues to increase, with nearly 8,700 patients listed on Sunday, marking a 25% increase in hospitalizations in three weeks, according to figures published by Public Health France.

With 498 new admissions in 24 hours, hospitals welcomed 8,685 patients on Sunday, against 6,922 on July 17, when the lowest level of hospitalizations had been recorded since the beginning of the year.

With 1,556 patients registered in critical care services, the number of Covid patients in serious condition has skyrocketed (+ 81%) since July 21, when this number was the lowest (859) since the start of the year. In the past 24 hours, 117 patients have been admitted to intensive care. Between Saturday and Sunday, 30 people died from the Covid in hospital, bringing the toll to 112,250 dead since the start of the epidemic.

The health authorities report 20,450 new cases of Covid detected in 24 hours against 25,755 the day before. The positivity rate is 4.2%. Regarding vaccination, 44,739,322 people have received at least one injection (i.e. 66.4% of the total population) and 37,231,075 people now have a complete vaccination schedule (i.e. 55.2% of the total population) since the start of the campaign, said the Directorate General of Health.
