From Sunday, Italy will be hit by an imposing wave of African heat, with temperatures that they can touch peaks of over 45 degrees on the southern regions. Experts already speak of "an extreme event", and "with few precedents". The scorching heat will be felt especially between 12 and 14 August. The incoming air mass will raise temperatures up to 28-30 degrees at 1,500 meters above sea level, the altitude that is usually used by experts to evaluate the air mass.



This means that maximum temperatures will rise to around 45 degrees in the South and on the two major islands. Indeed, in inland areas of Sicily and on the board of Puglia this value could even be exceeded. We are talking about anomalies varying from 5 to 10 degrees higher than the reference climatological averages, in short, we are facing an extreme event.



This time, the heat will also reach the northern regions, which have remained in check of thunderstorms for most of the summer, "with values ​​that will go well beyond 36-37 degrees in many cities on the plains". In short, summing up the hottest phase is expected between Thursday 12 and Saturday 14, when it will reach the apex of this which promises to be the hottest blaze of the summer.
