The Israeli ambassador to the United States and the United Nations, Gilad Erdan, said in the letter that Israel considers the Lebanese government responsible for everything that happens on its territory, and that Hezbollah's attacks - which he described as terrorist - would lead to massive havoc and destruction for Lebanon.
For its part, the Lebanese government condemned the Israeli attacks on its territory, and considered them - in a letter to the UN Security Council - hostile acts and a flagrant violation of Lebanese sovereignty and Security Council Resolution 1701.
On the other hand, the US State Department condemned - in a statement - Hezbollah's firing of missiles at Israel, and the statement described what is happening as violence that endangers the Israelis and the Lebanese, and threatens Lebanon's stability and sovereignty.
The US State Department said that Washington is in contact with Israeli and Lebanese officials and the Lebanese army.
It called on the Lebanese government to prevent such attacks and to impose its control over the region, and the US State Department urged the Lebanese government to facilitate the movement of UNIFIL forces and encourage efforts aimed at calm.
Calm prevails over the eastern sector areas in southern Lebanon after Israeli artillery shelling targeted open areas on the outskirts of the villages of Kfarshouba and Al-Habariya, and caused fires in the area’s forests.

The United Nations Special Coordinator in Lebanon, Ioana Frontka, expressed her concern over the exchange of fire between Lebanon and Israel in the past few days.
In a statement, the Coordinator called for maximum restraint to avoid further escalation, and called on all parties to refrain from violence, and stressed full compliance with Security Council Resolution 1701, and to maintain security and stability.
On the other hand, Farhan Haq, Deputy Spokesman for the Secretary-General of the United Nations, warned that the possibility of a miscalculation could lead to serious consequences, and Haq stressed - during a press conference - that maximum restraint is required to prevent further escalation.
On the other hand, the Israeli occupation aircraft launched air raids targeting two sites of the Palestinian factions east of Al-Tuffah neighborhood in Gaza City and Jabalia in the northern Gaza Strip. The Israeli raids caused material damage to the two targeted sites, while Palestinian medical sources did not report any injuries.
And Israeli media reported that fires broke out on Friday in Israeli settlements and towns adjacent to the Gaza Strip, accusing Palestinian activists of launching incendiary balloons from the Strip.
