”.

The words of the

press release published by the Élysée

are cautious and measured, but show no mistrust of Kaïs Saïed.

While French diplomacy called at the end of July for the rapid appointment of a new Prime Minister after the coup by the Tunisian president, no trace this time of any injunction from Paris.

status quo.

Jeune Afrique

, proposals for an end to the crisis had nevertheless been developed by Paris and Washington. Among them, the constitution of a government from which

Ennahdha, the first political force

in Parliament, would be excluded. The presidency would renounce direct authority over the forces of civil authorities, as Kaïs Saïed claims.

According to the Elysee, the Tunisian head of state would have undertaken to quickly make known

his roadmap

for the coming period and to give full place to popular legitimacy, that is to say, the choices made by Tunisians at the ballot box.
