For a month, Washington has been saying it and repeating it: Haiti is a partner and we will provide it with the necessary support, as we have always done.

The United States quickly sent FBI and Homeland Security agents to lend a hand to local authorities in their investigation into the assassination of President Jovenel Moïse.

Transport security and cybersecurity experts also visited the island to help their Haitian counterparts in the protection of strategic infrastructure.

On the other hand, for the moment, the Americans have not followed up on the Haitian government's requests concerning the sending of soldiers.

Washington has also deployed a dozen additional security agents to strengthen the security of its embassy in Port-au-Prince.

The United States also appointed a new envoy for Haiti two weeks ago.

Daniel Foote will be responsible for overseeing American assistance, especially in anticipation of the next elections.
