On the afternoon of the 6th, Foreign Minister Mogi held an online meeting with foreign ministers from five countries in the Mekong River basin in Southeast Asia: Vietnam, Thailand, Cambodia, Laos, and Myanmar.

In this, Minister Mogi said to the representatives of the Myanmar Armed Forces who attended, "I strongly urge the release of detained officials and the early recovery to a democratic political system," and the Myanmar Election Commission announced. He expressed concern that a party led by Aung San Suu Kyi announced that he would invalidate the results of last year's overwhelming general election.

On that basis, Minister Mogi urged the early acceptance of the special envoy appointed by the Association of Southeast Asian Nations ASEAN and the realization of dialogue with all pro-democracy groups.

According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the representative of the Myanmar Armed Forces explained his position in response to a series of efforts by Minister Mogi.
