The Sawab Center warned of the electronic recruitment of extremist groups, through the social networking programs "WhatsApp" and "Facebook".

He reviewed the story of an accused who was recruiting people through the two programs to join his terrorist group in Malaysia, and he hoped to send them to the Middle East and North Africa to help ISIS.

He also warned against believing the lies and rumors that are promoted through social media, especially those spread by extremist groups, with the aim of misleading followers and joining their ideas and organizations.

The center warned, in tweets recently broadcast on its social media accounts, that “not everything we see on social media is 100% real,” noting that social media sites are open to everyone, and some of them use them to exchange opinions and news, and share beautiful moments between parents. and friends, but the followers of misguidance use them to spread lies.

He warned against the extremists exploiting the psychological gaps of those who are being recruited, as they plant misleading ideas and misconceptions in their minds, and portray themselves as loyal followers of religion, warning that extremist thought can be avoided by maintaining values and a correct understanding of religion, then the lies of the followers of misguidance will have no effect. .

He pointed out that the followers of misguidance claim that they are the only ones who know God, and that they are the only ones who apply the principles of religion correctly, and therefore they must kill everyone who disagrees with them in opinion, for extremism has no religion, and no logic to follow, and it is a dark path that leads to destruction.

The center called for keenness to promote useful ideas, or to confront wrong information, considering that the impact of the word may be greater than the individual imagines, and that supporting the spirit of citizenship and a sense of responsibility towards society is the key to safety and progress for the children of any society.

He warned that whoever lives in isolation from his family and society, it is easy for the followers of misguidance to besiege and recruit him, because he has become weak without help or support, stressing that it is our duty to remain close to every member of our family, to understand what they face and protect them from the dangers of extremism.

The center asked questions about “why do extremists kill each other in the end?

Isn't he who listens to the voices of the followers of misguidance and their evil thought throws himself in the way of innocent blood being shed?

Why sacrifice himself for fake gains and false promises?

How can he be content to be a game in the hands of leaders who exploit him for their personal gain, so that his blood will be shed when his role ends?

He cautioned that the allegations of struggle, sacrifice and the application of Sharia are nothing but a false mask that hides their ambitions, and the biggest evidence is the internal fighting over positions and material gains, and what they loot from the innocent.

The Center pointed out that helping the needy, and donating to trusted charities, not only bring happiness and self-satisfaction, but also contribute to establishing the foundations and rules of cohesive societies that care about the well-being of their members, and strive to improve their standard of living, calling on individuals to direct them to the deserving.

The Sawab Center, the joint Emirati-American digital initiative platform to combat extremist ideology over the Internet, and promote positive alternatives, launched last year a new campaign on its social media platforms, using the hashtag #ISIS_Lies.

Through the campaign, the center recounts the stories of former ISIS members, who talk about their reasons for traveling to fight in the ranks of the terrorist organization, only to be shocked by the false promises of ISIS to the utopia and the application of Islam, which were nothing but lies and false promises.

The campaign reviewed accounts highlighting how ISIS exploited its followers and internet users, including those who had recently converted to Islam and who needed guidance and sought more information about religion, or troubled individuals who are already inclined to extremism. The tricks of extremists have increased the immunity of societies against the dangers of extremism.

Since its launch in July 2015, the Sawab Center has supported the efforts of governments, communities, and individual voices to proactively engage in countering extremism online by promoting positive alternative narratives of hate and violence.

Extremist propaganda

The Sawab Center warned that despite the loss of the territory by the terrorist organization ISIS, it still poses a threat, by calling for individual attacks against innocent civilians.

He called for contributing to reducing the danger of followers of misguidance, by reporting extremist propaganda on social networks.

• “The more the public understands the tricks of extremists, the more immune societies will be against the dangers of extremism.”
