Dzhabarov explained that Zelensky expressed what many Ukrainian politicians have said more than once, that "they need the land of Donbass, but they do not need the people who live on it."

“The approach is not just strange, criminal in relation to the population of his country,” the senator said.

He noted that such statements, for example, in Crimea "ended in rejection."

“The Crimeans did not accept such an ideology, they held a referendum in accordance with the laws of the Autonomous Republic of Crimea, which was part of Ukraine, seceded from Ukraine, then turned to Russia and became part of Russia.

Therefore, this logic only pushes the population of the southeast of Ukraine away from Kiev, ”the parliamentarian concluded.

Earlier, Zelensky said that Donbass "will never be Russian territory."

The Ukrainian leader recommended that those residents of Donbass who love Russia and want to join it, "look for a place in Russia."

On August 3, Zelenskiy said that Crimea "will never be Russian territory" and that Crimean cities "will return home."
