Chinanews.com, August 5th. According to the US Chinese website, the Mexican government filed a lawsuit against several American gun manufacturers this week, claiming that the commercial activities of these manufacturers caused "a large number of military guns and other deadly guns" to cross the border.

Data map: On April 19, 2019 local time, a shooting occurred at an entertainment venue in Minatitlan, Veracruz, eastern Mexico.

The Mexican government stated in the indictment filed in the Federal Court of Massachusetts that American gun manufacturers “are fully aware that their guns are being trafficked to Mexico on a large scale,” but have not implemented any measures to control the flow of weapons.

Several gun manufacturers have been named as defendants.

The indictment stated that the weapons manufactured by these companies "always be found in Mexico."

When referring to Beretta, the indictment stated that its "0.50 caliber sniper rifle is the most important weapon of war for drug cartels."

Also listed as the defendant is Interstate Arms, which operates a firearm resale business.

The Mexican government claimed that the defendant “actively assisted” and “facilitated” gun smuggling in order to maximize profits.

The lawsuit stated that among the smuggled guns investigated and dealt with in Mexico, the guns produced by the defendant accounted for 68% of them.

Mexican officials said on the 4th that they are seeking at least $10 billion in compensation.

However, reports claim that this lawsuit is likely to end in failure because the US Congress passed a law in 2005 that protects gun manufacturers from liability for injuries caused by illegal use of guns.
