It was on Wednesday evening that the horse owner discovered the badly injured horse, which was later killed.

Something that P4 Jönköping was the first to tell.

- Our trained inspectors are now trying to find out if it is an attack from a wolf or a bear.

That a lynx would have caused these injuries is not likely, Ingemar Sjöberg explains.

On site, the inspectors try to secure different types of traces and DNA to investigate whether it is a predator attack.

It is also done on the killed horse, which is at the animal hospital in Skara.

According to the horse owner, a foal must also have been injured in another suspected predator attack a couple of weeks ago.

Rare with bear

In recent years, there have been a lot of wolf attacks in our county.

Björn, on the other hand, is more rare.

- We had this Granfjällsbjörnen in the early 2000s that tamed tamboskap.

But it was killed during a protection hunt, says Ingemar Sjöberg.

When do you think you have determined if it is a predator attack?

- It is difficult to answer at the moment.

If it were about new wolf attacks - could it be relevant with protection hunting then?

- It's a later question.

It depends, among other things, on whether you make an assessment of whether there is a risk of new attacks.

How should anxious pet owners think and act now?

- It is about increasing the supervision of your animals and ensuring that you have a well-functioning fence, says Ingemar Sjöberg.
