The Egyptian Suez Canal Authority held a ceremony in the northeastern city of Ismailia on August 4, local time, to welcome the newly purchased "Hussein Tantawi" large cutter suction dredger.

The "Hussein Tantawi" was built by a Dutch shipyard, with a length of 147.4 meters, a width of 23 meters, a maximum operating depth of 35 meters, and a power of 29,000 kilowatts.

  Egyptian Prime Minister Madbuli and Suez Canal Authority Chairman Rabiya attended the ceremony.

In his speech at the ceremony, Rabie said that the "Hussein Tantawi" is technologically advanced, equipped with the latest 3D bottom imaging and scanning systems, and control and safety systems. It is one of the largest dredgers in the Middle East and Africa.

The dredger will provide a stronger guarantee for the development of the Suez Canal and against potential risks.
