In his address, the political scientist noted that unscrupulous political forces traditionally use so-called spoiler candidates in elections - citizens participating in elections solely for the purpose of pulling off the votes of some of the voters of real candidates.

At the same time, as Orlov added, citizens whose first and last names completely coincide or are similar to the personal data of real candidates are often used as "spoilers" in the hope that inattentive voters will make the wrong choice.

“In this regard, I ask you to consider the possibility of amending federal legislation in terms of supplementing the requirements for the content of ballots, namely, placing color photographs of candidates in them, which will complicate the use of spoiler candidates in elections,” the appeal says.

Earlier, the chairman of the Central Election Commission of Russia, Ella Pamfilova, called for the fight against the "technology of doubles" in the elections.
