Emilio Ballack, the son of former football top Michael Ballack, 44, has just died at the age of 18, according to British newspaper The Mirror.
Emilion is said to have died in an ATV accident in Portugal on Thursday morning local time.
The accident happened at the Ballackien Villas do Mar home farm.
According to the Daily Mail, police said Emilio Ballack had been driving on uneven ground, the ATV had fallen and the driver had been left under.
Rescue efforts by rescue personnel did not help and the 18-year-old was pronounced dead at the scene of the accident.
Emilio was one of three children of Ballack and his ex-wife Simone Lambe.
Born in 2002, Emilio was the middle child.
On Twitter, many have taken part in the grief of the Ballack family.
Michael Ballack is considered one of the legends of the German national football team.
At the club level, he starred in Bayer Leverkusen, Bayern Munich and Chelsea, among others.
He won the championship three times in the Bundesliga and once in the Premier League.
Ballack finished 42 goals in the German shirt, and from 2006 to 2010 he served as captain of the national team.
The German ended his career in 2012.
