Wildfires are approaching as far as Athens, the capital, and threaten Olympia, the birthplace of the ancient Olympic Games.



Firefighters have been fighting all night to stop the fire from spreading to the ruins.



The skies over the capital Athens were covered with black smoke, and villagers had to evacuate their settlements urgently.



Since the end of last month, wildfires have been burning across Greece due to heatwaves exceeding 40 degrees and strong winds.
