American comedian Louis CK, whose exhibitionism accusations brought against him had brought his career to a screeching halt, announced on Wednesday that he planned to return to the stage next week for an international tour.

The 53-year-old comedian admitted in 2017 to having masturbated in front of several women after revelations from the New York Times, in the midst of the #MeToo movement born of the Weinstein affair.

Louis CK had already attempted a discreet return to the stage in 2018 but had suffered a shower of criticism for jokes about shooting survivors and non-binary people.

"I can't wait to see all your faces when I tell some pretty rude jokes," the comedian said in an email to his fans on Wednesday.

The tour includes performances across the United States and in Germany, Denmark, Romania and Ukraine.

Six times winner of the Emmy Awards - the awards of American television - Louis CK, Louis Szekely in civil status, is a follower of black humor and self-mockery.

In the wake of the New York Times revelations, many companies that had projects with the comedian had announced to end it.

Last year, he published a sketch on his website, in which he mentioned the scandal.

"I learned a lot," he confided.

"I learned to eat on my own in a restaurant while being fingered from across the room."
