The vaccination center for students at the Yas Mall in Abu Dhabi, which was an initiative launched by the Abu Dhabi Department of Education and Knowledge in cooperation with the Abu Dhabi Department of Health, the Abu Dhabi Center for Public Health, and Mubadala Health Care, witnessed a turnout from hundreds of students who were keen to take the vaccine, so that they could return to their classrooms.

The vaccination process in the center is carried out in three stages, the first is the student’s arrival at the reception platforms to record his data, then he goes to the medical assessment room to perform some necessary tests, and then moves to the nursing room in order to obtain the vaccine.

Students who received the first dose at the center confirmed that the reason for choosing the vaccination is their aspiration to return to school again, interact with teachers, play with friends, and maintain their health, noting that the procedures were carried out well, smoothly, and without pain.

They called on their counterparts to register quickly to receive the vaccine, and to immunize themselves, their families and the community around them from the virus, as the vaccine constitutes a societal immunity that leads to a gradual and complete return to traditional education in schools and universities.

The center receives students over the age of 12, from 12 pm to 8 pm, and this includes undergraduate students, to obtain the Pfizer Biontech vaccine against the “Covid-19” virus, and students can also choose to obtain the vaccine at any of the approved vaccination centers in Abu Dhabi. .

The establishment of the center came to contribute to the continuous efforts to stop the spread of the “Covid-19” virus, support the safe return to school for the 2021-2022 school year, and support the efforts of the national vaccination campaign.

The Department of Education and Knowledge in Abu Dhabi said that it will implement intensive preventive measures to ensure the safety of students and all members of the teaching sector, including teachers, administrators and visitors, in all private schools, educational partnerships schools and their facilities.

The updated policies issued by the Committee for the Management of Emergencies, Crises and Disasters Resulting from the Corona Pandemic in the Emirate of Abu Dhabi stipulate that, as of August 20, 2021, all students aged 16 years and over must receive two doses of the vaccine in full, to be able to enter the school building.

The Undersecretary of the Department, Amer Al Hammadi, confirmed that students aged 16 years and over, and the teaching and administrative staff and visitors, must obtain a full vaccination against the “Covid-19” virus, from one of the approved vaccines in the Emirates, to be able to enter the school campus, whether within hours. School hours or outside, and the vaccination must be documented on the “Al-Hosn” application before returning to schools in the next school year.

Students and the teaching and administrative staff who are officially exempted from receiving the vaccine can enter the school campus, after confirming the exemption documentation on the “Al-Hosn” application, or through an official letter issued by one of the vaccine providers approved by the department, such as the Abu Dhabi Health Services Company (SEHA), and a network Mubadala Healthcare.

As for students who will reach the age of 16 after the opening of schools, and wish to continue their education in the classroom education model, they must receive the first dose of one of the vaccines approved in the country within four weeks of reaching the age of 16, with the requirement to document obtaining the vaccination on the “Al-Hosn” application, And the commitment of parents to ensure that their children complete the second dose in a timely manner.

On the other hand, students and teachers who moved to the emirate recently will have a grace period, to enable them to obtain vaccine doses, where they can communicate with their schools to obtain more information in this regard.

The policies include reducing the requirements for physical distance inside the school campus to one meter inside the classroom, and throughout the school, which allows to increase the absorptive capacity of the classrooms, and enable a greater number of students to continue classroom education, and interact with their colleagues and teachers, especially given the important role of this interaction. Improving the quality of life and development of students.

The updated policies for returning to schools in Abu Dhabi aim to provide safe classroom education opportunities for the largest possible number of students, but the distance education option will remain available for students with chronic diseases, students aged 16 years and above who do not have the vaccine, and students who wish to continue education. Remotely, if their schools provide this form.
