Statistics issued by the General Command of Civil Defense in the Ministry of Interior confirmed that the rate of building and facility fires decreased by 46% at the state level, during the first half of this year, compared to the same period of the past three years.

The Commander-in-Chief of Civil Defense, Major General Jassim Muhammad Al-Marzouqi, revealed that "the average response time and access to the accident site amounted to 6.07 minutes, which effectively and principally contributed to the preservation of lives and property, and a decrease in fire accidents."

Al-Marzouki added, "The Civil Defense is keen to consolidate the concept of prevention and safety among members of society," stressing the adoption of innovative and advanced projects and systems, which contributed to reducing the number of fires and deaths resulting from them.

He said that the directives of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, obligating the installation of fire detectors in residential homes at the state level, had a significant impact in this regard, pointing out that they contributed to controlling many of the accidents before they escalate.

He explained that the launch of the "Hassantak" project in 2018, based on Cabinet Resolution No. 61 of 2020, installing a "fire detector" in buildings and facilities, directly contributed to reducing the number of deaths caused by fires in buildings and facilities by 62%, during the first half of 2021. compared to the first half of the previous three years.

This was accompanied by an increase in preventive awareness among members of society, citizens and residents of the UAE, about the dangers of fire and ways to prevent it, through the main awareness plan organized by the General Command of Civil Defense throughout the year, targeting all segments of society.

The increase in the number of subscribers to the Hassantuk system for residential homes has also contributed to a decrease in fires, as 26,636 homes have been linked to the system since the launch of the project in 2018, an indicator that reflects the concerted efforts made by the authorities concerned with implementing and implementing the decision, and the high responsibility shown by residential home owners.

He said, "The optimal use of modern capabilities and technologies, the rehabilitation of human elements, the speed of response and readiness, and the dissemination of the preventive culture among members of society according to an integrated system based on cooperation and coordination with the regional administrations in the country, and working in the spirit of one team, had a significant impact in achieving the message of the General Command of Defense. The civil society aims to raise the quality of life for the UAE community, by providing security and safety services in smart ways, in order to preserve lives and property.”
