The Shura Council of the Tunisian "Ennahda" movement began - this evening, Wednesday - an exceptional consultation session, to discuss the general situation in the country, after 10 days of measures taken by the President of the Republic, Kais Saied, which caused a sharp political division.

The movement announced - on its Facebook page - the beginning of the extraordinary session, via video communication technology.

After Said's sudden decisions, the movement called for dialogue, and expressed its readiness to make the "necessary concessions" for the return of the democratic path, including preparing the country for early elections.

The leader of the Ennahda movement, Muhammad al-Qumani, said that the movement will review its mistakes and apologize to the Tunisian people for those mistakes, but not under blackmail, as he described it.

Al-Qumani added that the movement is ready to compromise in order to prepare the country for early elections.

In turn, the leader of the Ennahda movement and the former minister, Mohammed bin Salem, said that the Ennahda Shura Council, which convenes today, will work to delegate the powers of the movement's president, Rashid Ghannouchi, to a new leadership that is acceptable to public opinion.

And Ben Salem considered - in media statements - that Ghannouchi's continued leadership of the movement may complicate the possibility of reaching solutions with the Presidency of the Republic and entering into a coalition that defends freedom and democracy, as he put it.

However, Anadolu Agency quoted a source in the movement as saying that the Shura Council meeting will not consider changes to the movement's leadership.

The source - who asked not to be named - added that the meeting of the Ennahda Shura Council, which is being held by default, will consider developments in the country, and will discuss the policies that the movement may take to get out of the crisis.

He stressed that no leadership changes are expected within the movement at the council's meeting (the Shura Council).

The National Council of Ennahda Youth called - last Sunday - the movement's leader, Rashid Ghannouchi, to form a national leadership that includes youth competencies with the aim of saving the political track in the country, after a week of emergency measures taken by President Kais Saied, which caused a sharp division in the country.

After a meeting, the National Council for the Youth of the Ennahda Movement - which has the largest parliamentary bloc (53 deputies out of 217) - described these decisions as unconstitutional.

In another development, Tunisian President Kais Saied called - during his visit to the Ministry of Commerce - who he called the wealthy of the war to maintain prices and avoid monopoly, and said that they should be at the level of the historical stage that Tunisia is going through, as he put it.

In the same context, the Tunisian National Independent Authority for the Prevention of Torture (Independent) announced that it had included the file of the ousted Prime Minister, Hisham Al-Mashishi, in the investigation files on suspicion of detention or ill-treatment.

She revealed that she contacted some close to Al-Mashishi and tried to contact his mobile phone and sent him several messages without receiving any response from him, stressing that she would continue to investigate according to the law.

Today, Wednesday, she called on everyone concerned to contact her to provide her with any useful information about the situation of the dismissed Prime Minister Hisham Al-Mashishi.

And she said - in a statement - that she did not know whether there was a judicial or administrative decision related to placing Al-Mashishi under house arrest, preventing him from moving or preventing his visit.

She added that, since last July 26, it has placed Al-Mashishi's file among the investigation files on the possibility of suspicions of detention or mistreatment within the meaning of international law and national criminal law.

On July 25, Tunisian President Kais Saied decided to dismiss Al-Mashichi as prime minister, and he himself would assume the executive authority with the help of a government whose prime minister would be appointed, in addition to freezing the powers of Parliament, lifting the immunity of MPs, and heading the Public Prosecution.

Said says that he took his exceptional measures based on Article 80 of the constitution, with the aim of saving the Tunisian state, in light of popular protests against political, economic and health crises.
