• Balearic Islands El Rey worries in Mallorca about the tourist recovery in the middle of the fifth wave

  • Mallorca Queen Letizia reappears after the death of her grandmother and her absence at the funeral

The Kings and their daughters, Princess Leonor and Infanta Sofía, have starred this afternoon in their

first image together since they arrived in Mallorca

to spend a few days of vacation during their visit to

the Sierra de Tramuntana interpretation center and the Lluc sanctuary.

With sunset, the four of them started their tour at the information office of the Sierra de Tramuntana natural park, located in the municipality of Escorca, in the northwest of the island.

Don Felipe

and

Doña Letizia

They have arrived in a first car driven by the Monarch

and a second vehicle was transporting the Princess and the Infanta, both wearing esparto wedge espadrilles.

The president of the Balearic Islands,

Francina Armengol

;

that of the regional Parliament,

Vicenç Thomàs

, that of the Consell de Mallorca,

Catalina Cladera

, and the mayor of Escorca,

Antoni Solivellas

, welcomed them.

With their visit to the interpretation center, the royal family wanted to recognize the

scenic value of this natural space

, which in 2021 marks ten years since Unesco declared it a World Heritage Site.

Inside the Ca s'Amitger, an old rural house, they have made an exhibition about the great wealth of its vegetation and its fauna, as well as its

cultural value

and that of its towns and farms.

The four have contemplated the panels where photographs and audiovisual content are exhibited to understand in a didactic way the most significant elements of the place.

From the information center, they have

walked towards the Lluc monastery,

located a few meters away, to see the emblematic temple, the

main spiritual center of the island

named after its patron saint.

Place of pilgrimage,

its origin dates back to the 13th century,

when, according to legend, a shepherd and a monk found the image of the Virgin of Lluc among some rocks, characterized by its dark complexion.

In the Renaissance-style basilica, the Kings and their daughters have witnessed a

brief performance by the children's choir of the Blauets de Lluc,

one of the oldest

choir schools

in Europe and whose main feature is the blue color of their cassocks that gives them their name. .

The visit of the royal family concludes at the

Escorca City Hall

, a municipality in which some 200 people reside, where Felipe VI has signed in the honor book.

They have also walked to a

nearby viewpoint

to contemplate the landscape of the Sierra de Tramuntana at twilight.

Today's excursion is the only one that the Princess and the Infanta with the Kings have scheduled for now, although it is not ruled out that they may star in

another public appearance

, since the forecast is that they will be on the island until the beginning of the next week.
