- We have a close dialogue with the infection control in both the Kalmar region and the Kronoberg region about this and we will have follow-up meetings about this in mid-August to see if anything else has been said, he says.

Higher education institutions do different things

On 1 June, the government removed the recommendation on distance education for higher education institutions around Sweden, but universities and colleges have chosen to do something different before the start of the semester.

The majority choose a gradual return to teaching on site during the autumn, while Linnaeus University will place all teaching, which should normally be on site, on site immediately when the autumn term begins.

- We really mean that there is really no opportunity to do in any other way, but we have to follow the course and training plans that exist, says Niklas Ammert, vice-rector.

Precautions

But he emphasizes that the university will take precautionary measures at the opening.

- We plan to book as large premises as possible at any given time, we end teaching sessions 15 minutes before new teaching sessions begin so that we do not get congested when entering and exiting.

We still have markings on the floor and guards that circulate in our premises that can point out if you do not keep enough distance.

How do you view your responsibility as a university if this decision entails increased spread of infection?

- Indirectly, students come to our study places because the education is given there.

What we can do is to inform as clearly as we can and be sharp in being careful to follow all recommendations.
