The “legal” branch is headed by Pascal Affi N'Guessan and the so-called GOR branch has remained loyal to Laurent Gbagbo.

Since the return to the country of the former president, the latter has been trying to regain control of the party for good.

He is organizing a meeting with the authorities of the party next Monday, which is not at all to the taste of the FPI-Legal.

"

Laurent Gabgo is not authorized to summon the party's executives

" storm the executives of the so-called legal FPI.

In a press release signed by Issiaka Sangaré, secretary general and spokesperson for the party, the FPI “AFI” says it is “

indignant

” that Laurent Gbagbo still considers himself their current president.

Issiaka Sangaré speaks of "

 passage in force

 " and denounces "

the cult of personality and autocracy, path towards dictatorship

 ".

He also regrets the lack of will for dialogue of the Gbagbo clan, while Pascal Affi N'Guessan, president of the legal branch of the party, requested, he said, numerous hearings with the former Ivorian president.

“To

take such a decision is contempt, provocation.

We could have discussed the deep questions linked to the life of the party, talked about its future and given ourselves the best chances.

why avoid dialogue and go down this path?

In our opinion, it is unproductive,

 ”laments Issiaka Sangaré.

The FPI-AFI also announces the holding of its own executive meeting on August 11, 12 and 14, a meeting to which Laurent Gbabgo's relatives will not be invited.

For his part, a senior FPI executive said GOR assures us that the August 9 meeting will take place, adding that the party no longer wishes to comment on the words of those close to Pascal Affi N'Guessan.
