04 August 2021 To say, after the hacker attack on the Lazio region, that we are facing a "war is certainly a strong term, but an apt one. It must be understood that today wars are no longer fought only with firearms: these are attacks real terrorists, because in fact what is the health system is put in check ", Carlo Sibilia, Undersecretary of the Interior, told Sky TG24.

"I must say - added Sibilia - that political attacks in this sense make me especially, also because, alas, no region at this point can feel calm and serene: it certainly happened in Lazio, and the same system that governs in Lazio governs other regions too, but it was simply a coincidence as the system could have been easily broken through by a worker who was smartworking elsewhere, perhaps in Lombardy ".

"This attack - he continued - could also have been carried out elsewhere. I was lucky enough to visit the Leonardo center, the Soc of Chieti, which puts you in front of a fait accompli: today we need to invest in a really important way in what is cybersecurity of every public company and every public institution structure, because the real core business of the future will be data. in the process of being approved in the Senate these days: we have even invested something like 620 million euros in this aspect. I believe that Italy, from this point of view, is gearing up quickly and certainly we have top-level companies, which are investee companies like Leonardo, which have absolutely top-notch skills ".

According to the undersecretary, it is difficult to get to the origin of the hacker attack, while in order to increase national cybersecurity, Italy has to train as many young people as possible in this sector.
