The municipality has controlled well over 100 pubs and restaurants since the pandemic broke out.
In the restaurants and pubs in Umeå, most have followed restrictions on distance and congestion, but in the places that offer nightclubs, problems have arisen.
- We have problems with the nightclubs where there are a lot of young people.
It is too crowded in the queues and guests move too much, which is a problem that we must do something about, says Erik Engberg, inspector at Umeå municipality.
Restaurant was fined
During a check at one of Umeå's restaurants, it was too crowded indoors.
The inspectors pointed this out and the restaurant was fined if they did not take action.
- It was too crowded in the bar and you had to do something about it.
The restaurant then chose to close that bar, says Erik Engberg.
The restaurant still risks paying a fine if new problems arise.
