Chairman of the Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation Alexander Bastrykin reacted to publications in the media about the former inspector of the Department of Natural Resources and Environmental Protection of the Kurgan Region Alexei Sanochkin, who, after exposing an illegal VIP-hunting with the participation of Regional Duma deputy Denis Khakhalov, was recently dismissed after 22 years of service.

Sanochkin himself in an interview with RT earlier expressed confidence that the dismissal was revenge for his principled position - he repeatedly revealed and made public the facts of such violations, sometimes receiving threats in response not only to dismissal, but also to physical violence.

"Alexander Bastrykin instructed the head of the Investigative Directorate of the Investigative Committee of Russia for the Kurgan Region to submit a report on the appeal to the media by the state inspector of the Department of Natural Resources and Environmental Protection of the Kurgan Region, Alexei Sanochkin, about the illegal, in his opinion, dismissal," the ICR press service reported.

In addition, the head of the Investigative Committee ordered to take control of the investigation of the criminal case opened on the fact of illegal hunting for wolves with the participation of Khakhalov and his friends.

“The investigating authorities of the Investigative Committee of Russia in the Sverdlovsk Region are investigating a criminal case against a deputy of the Kurgan Regional Duma and five more citizens suspected under Part 2 of Article 258 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (illegal hunting committed by a group of persons by prior conspiracy).

According to the investigation, the six indicated defendants on February 6, 2021, participated in an illegal wolf hunt.

The Chairman of the Investigative Committee instructed to report on all the circumstances of the crime committed and put the course and results of the investigation of the criminal case under control, ”the ICR said.

"There must be an independent verification"

Alexey Sanochkin, in an interview with RT, commented on this order.

“There should be an independent check, for example, by employees from another region or by the IC department in the Ural Federal District.

In any case, it should be done by someone uninterested, because in the Kurgan region there is a conflict of interest among employees.

But the fact that it was Alexander Bastrykin who commissioned it imposes on them a share of responsibility for the result, ”Sanochkin said.

The former inspector also noted that he was glad that the criminal case on the fact of illegal hunting with the participation of Khakhalov was being investigated by employees of the Investigative Committee from the Sverdlovsk Region.

“They have no bias and they have not stained or tarnished themselves from any side,” he added.

Alexey Sanochkin also said that on August 2 he applied to the human rights center of United Russia to Mikhail Starshinov, who is also the deputy chairman of the State Duma Committee on Ecology and Environmental Protection.

“I sent an appeal and stated not only all my trends and aspirations, but also specifically on the circumstances of this case,” says Sanochkin.

He hopes that everything that is happening now will lead to objective conclusions.

"The irreversibility of punishment must be

"

Recall that on July 12, 2021, Sanochkin, who worked as a state inspector in the field of environmental protection of the Kurgan region in the Department of Natural Resources and Environmental Protection, was unexpectedly fired for "repeated violations."

He is sure that the dismissal was the result of the scandal with Denis Khakhalov.

In the spring of 2021, a video appeared on social networks where hunters brutally killed wolves.

The users were shocked by the footage, which showed how the men on the snowmobile crushed the still living predator, and then had fun when the animal tried to defend itself, biting the muzzle of the gun.

Later it became known that on February 6, the deputy Khakhalov and the huntsman Yermek Suleimanov participated in the illegal wolf hunt, who had no right to hunt: he had a criminal record, a hunting ticket was canceled and for eight years there was a ban on carrying and keeping weapons.

Another fact of illegal elk hunting was also revealed, in which high-ranking officials of the Investigative Committee in the Kurgan region participated.

All this became known thanks to the hunting supervision sector, which was headed by Sanochkin.

Against the background of the scandal, Khakhalov was first expelled from United Russia, and a few days ago, according to media reports, he submitted a petition to withdraw his deputy mandate.

At the same time, the inspector told RT that Khakhalov personally threatened him with dismissal from work.

Sanochkin believes that he lost his job in violation of the law and plans to file a lawsuit in court in order to appeal the negative entry in the work book and, possibly, return to his department.

On this fact, RT has already sent inquiries to the General Prosecutor's Office, the Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation and to the Ministry of Labor and Social Protection of the Population of the Russian Federation.

“Of course, I am glad that the media reported this problem. They called me, asked, supported me. There are quite a few caring people who are interested in this topic. I am pleased when the public supports it, especially if there is such a resonant topic when representatives of the authorities are breaking the law. Still, the irreversibility of punishment should be based on these facts, in particular, on cruel treatment of animals and illegal hunting, ”stressed Alexey Sanochkin.
