"The members of the Security Council expressed deep concern about the high level of violence in Afghanistan after the military offensive by the Taliban * and called for an immediate reduction in violence," the TASS statement was quoted as saying.

The UN Security Council also called on the Afghan authorities and the Taliban to embark on an "inclusive and meaningful peace process led and with the participation of Afghans" to achieve a political settlement and a truce as soon as possible.
