Sad certainty: divers have rescued the driver of the articulated lorry that fell from a bridge into the Kinzig, dead from the driver's cab. The truck fell off the Kinzig valley bridge on the motorway from Hanau to Fulda (A 66). The truck's cab ended up in the river, killing the driver. According to initial investigations, the 56-year-old had rammed a maintenance vehicle on the hard shoulder near Bad Soden-Salmünster (Main-Kinzig-Kreis) on Tuesday for an initially unexplained cause and lost control of his team. The truck broke through the guardrail and, according to the police, fell almost 15 meters.

The A 66 was completely closed for hours in the direction of Fulda because of the salvage work. Motorists had to drive around the scene of the accident. The police estimated the damage at around 200,000 euros. The truck had loaded pallets. The Kinzig Valley Bridge, completed in 1994, is the longest road bridge in Hesse at 985 meters according to the Main-Kinzig District. Up to 30,000 vehicles cross the structure every day.
