Sisi: I can't afford 20 loaves for the price of a cigarette (video)

Egyptian President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi

Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi said today, Tuesday, that it is time to increase the price of subsidized bread.

Al-Sisi added: "It is time for Abu Khamsa to make a loaf of bread (piasters) that increases his wish. Someone tells me to let the prime minister speak for the Minister of Supply who will remove it.. No.. I am taking it away in front of my country and in front of my people."

"It is not reasonable to pay 20 loaves for the price of a cigarette," he said during his speech at the opening of a food production facility.

Al-Sisi continued: “We cannot boil it as strong as it stops us with sixty or 65 piasters, but this matter must stop.”

He added, "There is no need to prove the same in this way over a period of 20 or 30 years, and we say that this number is not touched."

The price of a subsidized loaf of bread is currently 0.05 Egyptian pounds ($0.0032), and sixty million people are allocated five loaves per day under the large subsidy program.
