Göran Olsson has lived all his life in Stockholm.

Five years ago, they moved to Ammarnäs, after his wife got a job on the spot.

- I have no regrets and would never exchange this for the big city, says Göran Olsson while he clears weeds on the potato hill.

35 new plots

Work is also currently underway on a project with around 30 new plots.

- It has taken four years to get all permits but now everything is ready and we are working on the first stage, says Kicki Ericsson, entrepreneur in Ammarnäs.

The municipality views the investment positively.

- It's of course great fun.

Ammarnäs has become a popular holiday home area and a political nut for us to crack is to ensure that there is an opportunity for people to live there permanently, says Maria Broberg (V), chair of the City Council.

Today, around 100 people live in Ammarnäs.

"Funny that the village is alive - but one can hope that it stays at a reasonable level so that it does not become like Åre and Hemavan" - Göran Olsson hears about leaving the big city for Ammarnäs in the clip above.
