Nauseda said that almost 4,000 illegal migrants have crossed the Lithuanian border since the beginning of the year.

“The leaders came to a consensus that the actions of the regime should be regarded as a hybrid attack directed not only against Lithuania, but against the entire EU, therefore, all diplomatic powers should be involved and all efforts of the EU member states should be aimed at strengthening border protection EU / Lithuania and Belarus, ”the press service of the Lithuanian leader said.

Nauseda also called the protection of the EU border a matter of the entire European Union.

“European solidarity must be quick,” he said.

Earlier, the Prime Minister of Lithuania Ingrida Simonyte said earlier that the authorities are considering the possibility of contacting the EU member states with a request to accommodate some of the illegal migrants who arrive in the country from Belarus.

On August 2, it was reported that riots broke out in the tent camp at the Rudninkai training ground, where the Lithuanian authorities had placed illegal migrants.
