A groom in his wedding suit shot his friend in the US state of Louisiana after suspecting that the friend and the bride were having an affair, and the bride managed to escape, but the groom chased her with a gun and the police managed to rescue her at the last moments.

Groom Devin Jose Jones was in the car with his bride, Zinada Williams, and their friend "Pal" on Interstate 10 outside New Orleans late at night as road traffic came to a halt due to a multi-car accident around 11 p.m.

According to the newspaper, "Daily Mail", a fight broke out inside the car, and investigators said that the groom, "Jones," 30, suspected his wife of having an affair with their friend "Pal" and accused her of treason and pulled a pistol, which led to Pal fleeing the car.

Eyewitnesses said that a gunman wearing a tuxedo was chasing a person between the vehicles. Investigators concluded that the gunman was the groom Jones, and he shot his friend in the leg, and another stray bullet hit another motorist in the hand.

The panicked bride rushed to a nearby ambulance, told paramedics that her life was in danger, then barricaded herself inside as Jones tried to force his way through but was disrupted by traffic.

Louisiana officials said that when police arrived at the scene they found Jones hitting the ambulance in an attempt to reach the bride, but police managed to catch him and rescue the bride.

Police charged the groom with attempted second-degree murder and unlawful use of weapons, and the injured were airlifted to hospital and are in stable condition.
