It was at 10.30 pm that the police were alerted to Skallberget.

Residents in the area had heard shots being fired and a gunshot wounded man was found at the scene.

Swedish Radio was the first to report on the arrest, which was issued on Monday.

However, this was not the first arrest in the case.

Already over the weekend, another man was arrested on suspicion of attempted murder, a man who was quickly released. 

The latest information about the gunshot wounded man was that his injuries are severe but that his condition is stable.

The shooting was the seventh in less than two months in Västerås.
